Yoga & meditation
The gentle movement and yoga asana sequencing I teach is informed by years of practice devoted to both yoga and dance. Studies and practice in anatomy, trauma-informed somatic movement, Tai chi, and massage therapy also influence the way I craft a group session.
I frequently offer a practice called Yoga Nidra, also known as non-sleep deep rest. This somatic technique is a rest-based meditation practice that is a deeply relaxing way to experience the inner layers of oneself, where you lay down in a supported resting pose, close your eyes, and simply listen to the guided meditation journey.
I found this practice personally very helpful at a time in my life when my anxious symptoms were barely tolerable and I had trouble falling asleep at night. Hearing a steady, soothing, voice guide my restless mind through deep breathing, a detailed body scan, and oscillations of sensations gave me a tangible sense of relief and ease after listening. Thus began my deep dive into the history and philosophy of this ancient, nourishing meditation practice that has fundamentally shifted the way I sense, experience and respond to the world around me. In a culture that praises us for production and achievement, Yoga Nidra offers us an opportunity to reclaim our right to rest, pause, and simply be.
Yoga Nidra is a powerful, somatic way to regulate the nervous system and reach a state of deep relaxation. It is accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability or experience. So whether you'd like to relax, unwind and collect all of the physiological benefits of deep rest or you're interested in exploring the depths of your own inner landscape, Yoga Nidra offers us an opportunity to shed all of the layers and rest back into pure awareness, unencumbered by effort.

Bioregional Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old indigenous science from India that utilizes a 5-element theory to offer us a framework for how to see ourselves in relationship nature. It is sometimes referred to as the "sister science" to Yoga as they are both articulated from the same body of ancient texts, the Vedas. Understanding Ayurveda means you know how to recognize the elements within you and around you, as we are literally made of the same limited elements that exist on this planet. It is a beautifully expressed collection of ideas and practices that humans can embrace in an effort to become in more harmonious alignment with whatever environment we find ourselves in. Supportive tools include completely individualized nutritional & sleep guidance, herbal medicine, aroma, color & gem therapy, yoga & movement, breath & meditation techniques, and subtle energy management.
Learning about Ayurveda in my early adulthood imparted an "aha!" moment for me where I felt as though I was finally assigning language to something I had felt intuitive inclinations towards. Once I dove into the vast body of knowledge of this ancient medicine system, I was in love. And since then, it has healed and supported me in innumerable ways from finally curing my chronic acne and recovering from partying in my twenties, supporting my fertility, multiple pregnancy & postpartum phases in my thirties, and continues to embrace me with healthy aging tools in my forties, where I find myself feeling better physically, mentally, and spiritually than I ever have.
The "bioregional" part refers to the way we can take the concepts and systems of Ayurveda and apply them to other environments outside of it's original home in India. Ayurveda teaches us that our most powerful medicines grow in our immediate environment, and that eating seasonally and locally sourced whole foods is one of the first steps to health. In group classes and trainings, we explore Ayurveda's ancient theories and discover how applicable and powerful it's medicinal benefits are in our modern culture. Topics range from basic Introduction to Ayurveda-style classes to cooking demonstrations, tips on seasonal shifting, and Ayurvedic yoga.
